Dear Friends, (this one goes out to you guys)

I've had the pleasure of participating in a week off of school work and stressful studying. Thankful as I am for this time, I am eager to return to life at school where I can change the world, one cream cheese bagel at a time.
These past few days have been ones filled with friends of old, eating out, creating a stunning Batman, and being pampered by those more talented in the field then I.
Although my week now comes to a close, I choose to continue my post-secondary education in the comfort and now homelyness of my dorm room and those classrooms that are oh so white walled and simple.
Yet before me stands one complex, multi-layered, 7 hour journey northward. If I make it back in one piece, I'll be surprised. Had I a million dollars, and a car of my own, this 7 hour trek would be cut short to approximately 3 and 1/2 hours. Let's be realistic, I've not the brains, motivation, nor want of a million dollars.
I regretfully became best friends with the cats again, and now will be leaving them with no explanation, and many unshed tears drawing them each closer to depression. With any luck they'll make it through this, I just don't see them standing together to over come the feat.
I will greatly miss the opportunities that I have received this week that have granted me the time to read. After completing the interesting but slow story of A Lion Among Men, I productively read The Perks of Being a Wallflower within 12 hours. I then proceeded to commence the current readings of A Game of Thrones. I just love reading!
Finally, it has dawned on me that although I don't relate to the average humans life and have a somewhat uninteresting life to the outside citizen, people have been reading my blog. I have noticed that the majority of you reside in Canada, which is a wonderful place, but still others have been graced with a home country elsewhere. I would like to say thank you. Thank you to those of you who take the time out of your busy schedules to read my thoughts, I hope you are entertained by what you read here and I hope you continue to be captivated by the less than mundane comments and reflections that I've added herein.
Yours truly,

Miserably Marvelous Monday Morning

It's Monday morning. My laundry is in the washer, my zwieback is lightly toasted, and midterms are just around the corner.
My jam is gross, my calendar won't stay up anymore, and it's cold again today.
Don't you just love days like this?

First of all, Smuckers is a liar. They think just because their name is on the jar that its "worth spending your money on" jam. They lie. Their first mistake was adding 99% more fruit pieces to it. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to search through all the pieces and just find the good stuff?
Secondly, last night while watching a rather inspirational, feel good kinda movie, I accidentally knocked my cup off my desk and it landed on its top. Normally it wouldn't have been able to do this cause there is a straw there, but this time, the straw broke. Right in two. I had a small funeral for the guy and then tossed him. Now I can embrace my inner college student and use the cup that rez gave me.
Thirdly, I just finished off the last of my zwieback and I'm feeling a little depressed, and at a loss for words. Good thing I have a tube of flaky rolls in the fridge or I would be one sad, lonely, hungry person.
Fourthly, mother nature is so sneaky. Yesterday morning when I went to take out the garbage I put on my coat cause it looked windy and cold out. It was 75 degrees out. Then later in the day when it started to get hot in my room I opened the window. There was unnecessary cold air outside then. Even later whilst curled up under my blankets, holding my stuff dog, I could hear the wind. Now normally I can only hear the rain, but this time, I would hear the wind. That means it's real windy. Also the lovely weather lady on the radio told me there was a wind warning. What is a wind warning? "Watch out there's wind out there today!" Cause we couldn't already see that. I really wonder what kind or education people on the radio are required to have in order to get the jobs that they have.
Lastly, I think we should collectively vote to cancel exams for this year. It's just such a hassle having to study and stress out and not sleep and eat junk food without exercising for a whole week. I think the world would be a happier place without exams. I do understand where they're coming from though. If we didn't have exams that were weighted so much then students wouldn't study and therefor not learn much. We'd all be failures and have no one to blame but ourselves. (I'm still voting in favor of the termination of exams.)

Happy studying! this is t-bear signing off

The Week Before Midterms

The following is a list of things I've learned this week, things that have happened to me, and just your average random things:
  1. There are BLT's at the pub, and they are rather spectacular tasting.
  2. Sales draw in Mennonites like lights draw in bugs
  3. The question I get asked a lot, "If you're a Mennonite, why do you have a cell phone?"
  4. When I get into the workforce, I will be under appreciated and underpaid.
  5. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get a better sleep tonight with all the Avengers characters staring at me.
  6. When the calendar is switched to October the magnets have a harder time holding it up. September was so much easier.
  7. It's hard to think of touristy places in my own hometown.
  8. I am now the proud owner of an induction cooktop and a rather large bag of packing peanuts.
  9. Packing peanuts really don't like being taken from a box and put into a bag.
  10. I bought a sweat shirt today. It was on sale. After I got home, I held it up and stared at it for a while. It started to look rather familiar. It may or may not be the same sweat shirt that my sister already has. I really cannot tell.
  11. It snowed in the Soo this week. It's also October. The end of the world has begun.
  12. I sat in a movie theatre this afternoon. The first time since coming to school. There was one point there where I thought, "we'll just be getting in the car and on our way home in time for dinner after this". Then I remembered that I'm not at home.
  13. It's apparently never too late to stay out and make lots of noise on a Friday night.
  14. I miss home cooked meals.
  15. There's no shame in not accomplishing what you set out to. Life isn't set out in a plan that has to be followed. Just because this didn't work out, doesn't mean you can't try something else. Everyone deserves to be happy, no matter what path takes you there.
  16. Guacamole can be purchased at my local grocery store. This will happen again.
  17. It's raining again.
  18. Wool socks and Birkenstock. Although not stylish, very comfy.
  19. The National Post has been rather lax on their distributing lately. I do not approve of this.
  20. Reese's are better purchased in bulk.
  21. We are never too old for children's movies.

An excerpt from: My Non-existent Novel

Lock the door. Check. Unlock. Lock again. Check. Check again. Put faith in that lock. Turn away only to stop the mind from playing it's tricks.
It had been this way for four weeks now. That paranoid feeling that something wasn't right. That edge of your seat, heart pounding, being followed feeling.
Less than ten steps to the next door and a quick glance over the shoulder. That feeling getting stronger with the growing distance between danger and the safety of what lies on the other side of that door.
Between the elevator and the stairs, there was no question that the stairs provided the most security. Being trapped in an elevator for four floors made crawling back into bed sound like a reasonable idea.
It couldn't have been more than five seconds, yet it was five seconds too long. A door somewhere down the hall opened, and without even a glimpse of the perpetrator the stairs were in view and the escape was in motion.
Taking the stairs two at a time, only pausing once to collect the device dropped between floors three and two.
It was evident from the amount of noise in the previously vacant stairwell, that this wasn't the average walk in the park. This was the dreaded day that had been weighing down for the past four weeks. This was the day feared by all, even those involved shuddered at the mention of this day. The day where the weak were separated from those worthy of being called mighty and powerful.
October 2nd. The commencement of: The Zombie Apocalypse

"Bad dream? Well, I think we know what's wrong with you now. After observing the interior workings of your brain while you slept, we found a lot of imagination. Do you read a lot? Well, I'd say that the amount of fictional reading that you have been exposed to in your lifetime is taking a toll on your mind. Do you easily become immersed in the plot lines and characters lives of the books you read and the television shows that you watch? It's not a common disease, easily curable with your cooperation, which I don't know that we have yet. Don't worry it's not contagious or your sister would definitely have it too. I'm going to prescribe you a daily dose of boring non-fiction texts and when you come back next week we'll see how you're doing."
